Bike Tour

Otways - Gippsland - Tassie - High Country

Personally Challenging – Each tour runs for 6 or 7 days, over 350 – 450 kilometres in all sorts of weather over all sorts of terrain. A genuine opportunity for students to push themselves (or be pushed!) physically in a way they may never have been before.

Absolutely Unique & now Historic – Newcomb Secondary College Bike Tour is the only event of its kind run by a Victorian Government High school: organised and run by the years of experience now built up within the Newcomb staff. Newcomb Secondary College has been running Bike Tour for over 30 years, non-stop.

Sights & Experiences – Three tours covering the sights, scenery and “picture book” locations of world recognised regions in Victoria and Tasmania which many students may otherwise never see. The Great Ocean Road, Wilsons Promontory, Wine Glass Bay to name a few!

Teamwork – A highlight of each successful tour sees students work together on all aspects of the daily logistics, with staff, to “get the job done” both out on the road and at each camp/accommodation site.

Personal Pride – The Reward – Bike Tour allows many students a unique opportunity to experience feeling proud of achieving something very worthwhile as part of a team special “team”.

Fitness – Many students kick start new habits of health and fitness or set goals based on an old ‘mark’ as they prepare for, then complete one or several Tours.

Relationships – Every year Bike Tour sees new friendships develop, often across many year levels and gives staff and students a real connection as everyone prepares for then tackles the upcoming Tour.

Memorable – Bike Tour is an event so many students rate as amongst the few, if not the highlight of their time at Newcomb Secondary College. At a time when our senior students could be launching into the start of the rest of their lives, many return to complete Bike Tour as their “swan song”.

Some Good Advice (from those of us that know better!) - Newcomb Secondary College hopes every students takes up the opportunity to complete at least one Bike Tour in their time as a student with us. They’ll never regret it and never forget it!
