Music Programs

All students at Newcomb Secondary College are given the opportunity to learn a musical instrument and participate in one of the College bands.

Students require no knowledge of music before entering the program and do not need to buy an instrument. The College hires instruments to the students for $120.00 per year and there are no tuition fees. Students can commence learning an instrument from Year 7 and continue on with it to VCE.

We specialise in brass, woodwind and percussion instruments in our instrumental music program and keyboard in our classroom music program.

We also teach VCE Solo Performance Music Units 1, 2, 3 and 4, Classroom Music in Year 7 and Year 9 and 10 music as an elective.

We have five college bands, Year 7 Concert Band, Year 8 Concert Band, Senior Concert Band and two jazz bands.

Each year we run a Senior Concert Band Tour for a week and a Junior Music Camp for three days.
