Middle Years 7-9

Students in Years 7 and 8 will complete a prescribed course which aims to give students experience in a range of subjects and develop their skills and appreciation for subjects they would not have completed in Primary School. The last year of the Middle Years allows for Year 9 students to pick elective subjects as they begin to refine their focus on subjects that will enhance their pathway to reflect interests they hold after the completion of Secondary School.


During the course of Year 7 students will complete the following subjects:

  • English and Social Environments (EASE)
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Food Technology
  • Performing Arts
  • Visual Arts
  • Indonesian
  • Metal Technology
  • Physical Education

During the course of Year 8 students will complete the following subjects:

  • English and Social Environments (EASE)
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Fabric Technology
  • Visual Arts
  • Indonesian
  • Wood Technology
  • Physical Education

 

In Year 9, students choose subjects based on the following model.

  • English (two units)
  • Maths (two units)
  • GROW (one semester, connected to our Gordon programme)
  • Studies of Society and Environment (SOSE - minimum one unit, from a range of possibilities)
  • Science (minimum one unit, from a range of possibilities)
  • Physical and Health Education (minimum one unit, from a range of possibilities)
  • Arts (minimum one unit, from a choice of 2D, 3D, Music, VCD, Media, Drama)
  • Technology (minimum one unit, from a choice of Fabric, Food, Wood, Metal, Glass)
  • 3 units chosen in the student’s areas of interest (possibly Indonesian, On Two Wheels (bike-ed), Kayaking or more than one unit from the other subject areas.
